Manchester United have confirmed the acquisition of Anna Sandberg, a highly regarded Swedish international, on a three-year contract with an option to extend for an additional year.
The defender arrives from BK Hacken, where she has been since July 2022 and gained valuable experience playing in the Champions League with the Damallsvenskan club.
Sandberg represented Sweden in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, helping the team secure a third-place finish.
Her transfer to United sets a new record for a Swedish women’s player, surpassing Everton’s £150,000 fee paid to Rosengard for Hanna Bennison in 2021.
At 21, the full-back becomes United’s fourth summer signing, following the arrivals of Dominique Janssen, Elisabeth Terland, and Melvine Malard.
