Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of securing their third summer transfer by signing Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Red Devils have already made two acquisitions this summer, bringing in Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and 18-year-old center-back Leny Yoro from Lille.

Manchester United are now focusing on strengthening their midfield, with Ugarte emerging as their primary target for the defensive midfielder role. According to Fabrizio Romano, Ugarte has already agreed to personal terms with United, leaving the clubs to settle on a transfer fee for the Uruguayan international.

Romano shared on X: “Manuel Ugarte said yes to Man United and also agreed on personal terms a few days ago, as revealed. Negotiations are ongoing between PSG and Man United; it will take some days before entering into key/final stages.”

French outlet Foot Mercato reports that an agreement between Manchester United and PSG is imminent after days of discussions. The 23-year-old Ugarte has chosen to continue his career at Old Trafford, despite interest from other European clubs. He has informed PSG that Manchester United is his preferred destination.

PSG is asking for €70 million (£59 million) for Ugarte, a fee that would enable them to pursue Benfica midfielder Joao Neves. Although Manchester United had shown interest in Neves, reports from Portugal indicate that they now consider him a lost cause and are focused on completing the Ugarte deal.

PSG was always prepared to offer more for Neves, who preferred a move to the French side, especially since Manchester United will not be participating in the Champions League next season.
