Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a 71-year-old businessman, bought the team. It was made public by the club in December, after months of rumours.
Ratcliffe and his INEOS Group bought a 27.7% stake in the club after spending almost £1 billion. After another £238 million is spent, that share will be close to 30%.
Nice is also owned by the INEOS company. Nice is a French football team that is going to Europe. They are currently in fifth place in Ligue 1.
Even though its rules have been changed, UEFA has now officially confirmed that teams controlled by the same group cannot compete in the same tournament.
When asked, a UEFA source confirmed the story to SunSport.
“Yes, Manchester United and Nice should not play in the same competition.”
“They could play in different tournaments since there is no longer any “feeding” between tournaments.”
