Brentford manager Thomas Frank believes that Kai Havertz should have received a red card before scoring the decisive goal in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Brentford. Despite Yoane Wissa equalizing Declan Rice’s early opener just before halftime, Havertz once again proved troublesome for Brentford, securing a late winner and denying them any points.
Frank argues that Havertz was fortunate to avoid a red card, alleging a dive in the box under a challenge from Nathan Collins. Despite already being on a yellow card, Havertz went down under minimal contact, prompting appeals from Brentford players for a second booking. Referee Rob Jones chose not to penalize Havertz, a decision Frank deemed a “clear dive.”
In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Frank expressed frustration, suggesting that Havertz should not have been on the pitch when scoring the goal. He pointed to replay evidence confirming Havertz’s simulation and suggested that the linesman should have intervened.
Additionally, Frank provided an update on the condition of captain Christian Norgaard, who had to be substituted in the first half due to injury during the match at the Emirates Stadium.
