“He’s just an overhyped player, nothing really special about him, i don’t rate him much”- Didier Drogba, a Chelsea icon, thinks the 22-year-old Arsenal sensation is nothing more than a flop.
Didier Drogba, a prominent figure at Chelsea, recently shared unexpected views on Arsenal’s defender, William Saliba.
Saliba, recognized as a key player for Arsenal, has consistently delivered exceptional performances since the start of the previous season. Despite this, Drogba expressed skepticism in an exclusive interview with ‘Get French Football News,’ stating that Saliba’s individual qualities are not above average.
According to Drogba, Saliba, who plays for Arsenal, has not yet had sufficient playing time to establish the necessary connections, and while he acknowledged the player’s high level, he didn’t consider him outstanding.
Drogba emphasized that before reaching a global level, Saliba needs to acclimate to the required linkages. It’s essential to note that Saliba’s dominance for Arsenal contrasts with his performances for his country, where concerns have been raised about some of his displays. Players like Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano have excelled more for their national teams.
Despite these observations, it’s crucial to consider that Saliba is having an excellent season for Arsenal and is regarded highly within the team. Notably, his absence was felt during a recent match against West Ham United.
While Drogba remains skeptical about Saliba, Arsenal does not share the same concerns. In contrast, another player, Kai Havertz, continues to face criticism, even after Arsenal’s overall poor performance in a recent match.
