Manchester City are apparently looking to sell Kalvin Phillips permanently this month rather than loan him out.
Earlier today, it was claimed that West Ham United were in talks with the Manchester club about signing the 28-year-old this month.
However, some behind-the-scenes revelations have emerged regarding City’s attitude on perhaps allowing the midfielder to leave the club before the January transfer window shuts.
City now wants to sell Phillips permanently.
According to a recent TEAMtalk story, City want to sell Phillips permanently but are still discussing a possible loan move to West Ham.
In the summer transfer window of 2022, Manchester United paid £45 million to sign the Englishman from Leeds United.

Since then, the midfielder has only started six out of 31 games in all competitions.
Given his paucity of playing time at the Manchester club, it’s no surprise that they want to transfer him on.
The suggestion that the Citizens are seeking for a permanent sale indicates that they do not see Phillips’ future at the Etihad Stadium.
In fact, Pep Guardiola stated last month that he struggles to envision the former Leeds player in his ideal City team.
Moving forward, whether Phillips leaves Manchester on loan or permanently this month, the best situation for him would be to move somewhere where he can play consistently.
If West Ham were willing to sign the England international on a permanent basis, it would be interesting to see what kind of sum it would take for City to approve this potential transfer, and how near it would be to the £45 million fee they paid to sign him in the first place.
