Paul Scholes Launches Brutal Attack On United Star, Demands Immediate Exit And Tells Him To Leave European Football For Saudi Arabia

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has launched a fierce criticism of club captain Bruno Fernandes following the controversy surrounding his recent comments about manager Michael Carrick, questioning whether the Portuguese midfielder can still be trusted to lead the team.

Scholes was particularly unhappy with Fernandes’ public assessment of United’s tactical approach after their disappointing 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como. The former midfielder described the captain’s remarks as unforgivable and suggested that he should consider leaving European football for Saudi Arabia.

The controversy started when Fernandes discussed United’s failure to press Como aggressively, arguing that the team needed to take more risks rather than allowing their opponents too much possession. Although he stopped short of directly blaming Carrick, his comments sparked questions about his relationship with the manager.

Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Scholes questioned Fernandes’ leadership and suggested that managers and coaching staff would struggle to trust him following the incident.

Tensions increased when Carrick subsequently left Fernandes out of the starting lineup for United’s Premier League encounter against Bournemouth, which ended in a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford.

However, Carrick maintained that his selection decision was based on footballing reasons.

Fernandes has been one of United’s most influential players since arriving from Sporting CP in 2020, making the controversy particularly significant.

While Scholes’ comments have intensified speculation about the captain’s future, there is no confirmation that United intend to terminate his contract. His criticism remains a personal opinion, not an official club decision.
