SENNE LAMMENS REPORTEDLY FURIOUS AFTER MANCHESTER UNITED’S DEFENSIVE COLLAPSE AGAINST COMO
Manchester United’s embarrassing 4–1 defeat to Como has reportedly sparked frustration behind the scenes, with goalkeeper Senne Lammens allegedly expressing his anger over the defensive mistakes that left him exposed throughout the match. The disappointing result has once again brought United’s defensive organisation under scrutiny, raising questions about the support their goalkeepers receive from the players in front of them.
According to the circulating report, Lammens drew comparisons with former United goalkeeper André Onana, suggesting that he now understands the difficulties his predecessor faced when the defence failed to provide adequate protection. The Belgian shot-stopper was reportedly frustrated by his teammates’ inability to track back, win challenges and take responsibility defensively.
Throughout the encounter, Como repeatedly found space to attack, with Nico Paz helping the Italian side exploit the weaknesses in United’s defensive structure. Lammens was left dealing with dangerous situations as the home side continued to threaten, but his efforts could not prevent the Red Devils from conceding four goals.
The alleged comments have sparked further debate among supporters, many of whom have questioned whether United’s defensive problems stem from individual mistakes or deeper tactical issues. Onana also faced criticism during his time at Old Trafford, often finding himself under pressure when the team struggled to contain opposition attacks.
If the reported frustration reflects the mood within the squad, it could present another challenge for Michael Carrick and his coaching staff. Maintaining unity in the dressing room will be crucial, particularly after such a disappointing European performance.
United must now address their defensive weaknesses, improve their organisation and ensure that every player contributes when the team is under pressure. Otherwise, their goalkeepers could continue facing difficult situations that no individual can solve alone.
Whether the defeat becomes a turning point or another chapter in United’s ongoing struggles will depend on how the players and coaching staff respond in the coming matches.
