“We don’t want him at our club — we’re not lacking goals!” — Lamine Yamal has reportedly given his verdict on the ongoing Julián Álvarez transfer speculation involving FC Barcelona

Gill Clark Gill Clark is the site manager of Barca Blaugranes and joined in 2017. She has worked in sports media as a writer and editor for the best part of two decades and has been in love with the beautiful game for as long as she can remember.
Lamine Yamal says Julian Alvarez is a great player but that he’s happy with the squad Hansi Flick has at Barcelona for the 2026-27 season.
Barcelona were linked with Alvarez throughout the summer transfer window but the Argentina star is set to stay with Atletico after Diego Simeone’s side refused to sell him to the Catalan giants.
Yamal has been asked about the saga, and whether he’d have liked to have seen Alvarez at Barcelona, at the 5th AFE Awards Gala on Tuesday and says that Barca don’t have a problem scoring goals.
“We’re doing very well now, and it shows. We’re not lacking goals. Obviously, he’s a great player, but I’m very happy with the squad we have. We want to win everything, that’s what’s important.”
The teenager was also asked how he’s feeling after beating Rayo 5-2 last time out and admitted he was thrilled to find the back of the net again.
“I was thrilled to score again for the club of my life, I’m very happy,” he added. “I’m also very happy to be here. Any awards are welcome, especially from a players’ association, who are ultimately the ones who know best. There’s always a lot of talk about everything that happens to me, but I’m very happy.”
Barcelona have scored 12 goals in their opening three La Liga matches, with Yamal scoring twice against Rayo Vallecano to bring up a half century of goals for his club side.
