Chelsea Manager Mauricio Pochettino has stated the reason why Moises Caicedo was not in today’s Chelsea Squad and Lineup
And the manager has made three changes to the team that defeated Newcastle in the Carabao Cup on penalties on Tuesday.
Malo Gusto, Lesley Ugochukwu, and Armando Broja replace Benoit Badiashile, Caicedo, and Enzo Fernandez in a 4-4-2 formation.
While Fernandez’s absence was well known, Caicedo’s absence on the bench has raised eyebrows and left fans concerned that yet another player has been injured.
The club’s record signing played the entire 90 minutes against the Magpies, but according to rumours, the defensive midfielder is currently ill and did not travel to Molineux.
Pochettino confirmed the news before the game, saying, ‘Moises Caicedo has a high fever, so he is not engaged today.’
Fernandez has also been ruled out due to illness, while Badiashile has been battling a sickness but was selected to the bench against Wolves.
Fans will be hopeful that Caicedo will be fully healthy for Chelsea’s next game against Crystal Palace on December 27th at Stamford Bridge.
‘We have the chance of playing with Armando and Nicolas Jackson together today, and also Malo Gusto comes in as a more offensive full-back, with Axel Disasi going inside,’ Pochettino explained.
‘When we lose players, we try to find the best answers, and today we’re looking for the appropriate combinations while maintaining a decent balance.’
