Fresh reports from Caught Offside suggest that both Arsenal and Manchester United are leading the chase to sign Eduardo Camavinga from Real Madrid when the summer window opens, with interest from the two English giants described as the most advanced so far.
Since arriving from Stade Rennais FC, Camavinga has played an important role for Madrid, but his long-term future is no longer guaranteed. Despite his quality, the midfielder has struggled for consistent minutes in recent months and has often been used from the bench since the turn of the year, raising doubts about his place in the squad moving forward.
That situation could push the French international to consider a fresh start elsewhere, and clubs are already circling. Madrid, however, are not expected to make things easy for any suitor. With Álvaro Arbeloa involved in the setup, the Spanish side are prepared to demand a fee in the region of £52 million before even entertaining negotiations.
Camavinga remains one of the most highly rated defensive midfielders in Europe, but his reduced involvement has only intensified speculation about a possible departure. There have even been moments where younger options, such as academy talent Thiago Pitarch, have been preferred in key matches, adding to the sense that a change could be on the horizon.
For Arsenal, a deal may prove difficult to sell from a sporting perspective. Under Mikel Arteta, the midfield is already well established, with Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi firmly occupying starting roles. That leaves limited room for Camavinga to walk straight into the lineup, and he could find himself in another rotational role similar to what he is currently experiencing in Madrid.
Manchester United, on the other hand, may be able to offer a clearer pathway into the starting XI. With Casemiro expected to depart at the end of his contract, there is a clear vacancy in the holding midfield position. Michael Carrick, who is tipped to take charge permanently, could view Camavinga as the ideal long-term solution in that role.
At a reported £52 million, the deal would represent a significant but potentially smart investment. The 23-year-old has been efficient in possession this season, completing around 92 percent of his passes in La Liga, while also contributing defensively with an average of five duels, three tackles, and three recoveries per match.
A move to Old Trafford could also see him form a promising midfield partnership with Kobbie Mainoo, giving United a blend of youth, energy, and technical quality in the middle of the park. With Champions League football likely on offer, the Red Devils could present an attractive next step for the talented Frenchman if he decides to move on.
