Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been Sacked this evening after shocking draw with Crystal palace
Pep Guardiola stated that his Manchester City players must lift themselves as quickly as possible if they want to be named world champions next week.
City qualified for this year’s Club World Cup after winning the Champions League in June. The competition plays the best teams from each continent against each other. If Guardiola’s team advances from Tuesday’s semi-final against Urawa Red Diamonds, they will face either Brazilian side Fluminese or Egyptian club Al-Ahly in the final for silverware the club has never won.
As much as the trophy is a goal, City is leaving it on a negative note. Crystal Palace’s late goals transformed a comfortable home win into another dropped point on Saturday, and Liverpool may be 12 points ahead of the Blues by the time they return from Saudi Arabia.
Guardiola stated that the players could be flying out in better conditions when they depart hours after the Palace draw, but they cannot afford to stay low if they are to get back on track. This begins with a match against the Urawa Red Diamonds.
“The seven hour flight would be better with a result but it is what it is,” Guardiola was quoted as saying. “Now we’re down, and we’re lifting as quickly as we can to get there and compete.”
