Nicky Butt has reportedly backed Frank Lampard to make a shock return to Chelsea F.C. as manager

Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt has suggested that Chelsea should consider bringing Frank Lampard back as manager. Lampard, who is currently in charge at Coventry City, appears to be on the verge of guiding his side into the Premier League, which would be a remarkable accomplishment.
Despite this, Butt thinks Chelsea should pursue Lampard for what would be an unprecedented third spell as the club’s manager, given the difficult position Chelsea find themselves in. He argued that Lampard has grown considerably from his previous managerial stints, gained valuable experience, and would be a meaningfully improved coach compared to before.
However, the reality is that this scenario is highly unlikely to materialize. Lampard has little incentive to return to Stamford Bridge under Chelsea’s current management structure, which has been widely criticized.
More importantly, he is thriving at Coventry and steadily building a strong reputation as a manager in his own right — walking away at this point would be a poor career decision. Given the state of Chelsea’s current setup and direction, it’s difficult to envision Lampard returning to the club at all.
