Notably, Sesko was the only substitute not wrapped up in a coat as the players took their seats for the second half, seemingly eager and ready to play, yet Carrick was slow to bring him on.

Ahead of the match, Carrick had spoken about the difficulty of selecting his team, and while he had made all the right calls in his first four games, his decision to keep Sesko on the bench for as long as he did appeared to be his first genuine misstep.

Even so, Sesko made his mark when it mattered most, producing a stunning finish in the final seconds to earn United a share of the spoils. What was equally impressive was his composure after scoring, calmly rallying his teammates to quickly reset for the restart rather than dwelling on the moment. It was the kind of focused, driven mentality that suggests he has a bright future at the club.
