Pep Guardiola has deliberately avoided discussing Manchester City’s rumored pursuit of Antoine Semenyo ahead of the January transfer window.
The Bournemouth attacker is edging closer to a high-profile move to the Etihad Stadium, with City reportedly showing willingness to meet the substantial £65 million ($87m) release clause written into his contract with the south coast club.
While ESPN sources confirm that talks between the parties are actively progressing, Guardiola remained characteristically evasive during Wednesday’s press conference when pressed about the possibility of welcoming the Ghana international into his squad.
“I’m completely in the dark about any developments on this front right now,” the Spanish tactician insisted.
“I genuinely have nothing to report on the matter. From my perspective, the transfer window might as well be completely sealed at this point.”
If Semenyo’s move does materialize, it could trigger a domino effect that sees Oscar Bobb exit the club to accommodate the new arrival.
German giants Borussia Dortmund have emerged as potential suitors for the talented Norwegian, who remains on the treatment table recovering from injury. However, Guardiola maintained his diplomatic silence when probed about the youngster’s uncertain future at the club.
“You’d be better off directing that question to Oscar Bobb directly rather than asking me,” he deflected.
