Currently appears to be’: According to a journalist, the 29-year-old Manchester City player could potentially be out for three weeks.

Manchester City journalist Sam Lee has provided an update on Mateo Kovacic’s injuries.

The midfielder was ruled out of Croatia’s Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Latvia and Armenia earlier this week owing to a muscular ailment.

However, with City poised to face Liverpool next weekend when domestic football returns, one writer has given some new information on Kovacic’s injury predicament.

Lee provides an update on Kovacic’s injury.

“Mateo Kovacic suffered a recurrence of the thigh injury he sustained in September during the Chelsea game last weekend,” he stated. City will have a better understanding of the diagnosis next week, but it currently appears that it will be 2-3 weeks.”

The 29-year-old has made 14 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions after joining from Chelsea in the previous summer transfer window in a move for £30 million.

As Lee said, Kovacic was sidelined with a thigh injury earlier in the season, missing City’s Premier League matches against West Ham United and Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder has appeared in five of the club’s six league games since then, starting three of them.

If the Croatian is ruled out for the next three weeks, City will miss their next three league games against Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa, as well as their next Champions League group game against RB Leipzig.

With those fixtures in mind, it’s easy to conclude that Kovacic may be a major miss for Pep Guardiola’s team, given the important games he could miss.

Moving forward, everyone at Manchester City will be hoping that the midfielder’s injury can be resolved permanently as soon as possible and that he is not sidelined for too long.
