According to German outlet Bild, Newcastle tabled a £70 million bid — made up of £65 million as a fixed fee and £5 million in add-ons — but RB Leipzig turned it down. The Bundesliga club is reportedly holding out for a total package closer to £74 million, which includes £65 million fixed and £9 million to £10 million in performance-based bonuses. They also want a sell-on clause included in any deal for the 22-year-old Slovenian striker.
Manchester United are willing to match Newcastle’s £70 million offer, but with Leipzig’s clear stance, both clubs may need to improve their proposals. Time is running short, as the Premier League season is just around the corner, and both teams are desperate to reinforce their attacking lines. For United, goalscoring has been a major issue, managing just 44 goals in the league last season, with their strikers only contributing seven of those. Newcastle, despite boasting Alexander Isak’s 23-goal tally, are also looking for additional firepower amid uncertainty around the Swedish striker’s future.
Šeško, still developing and yet to reach his peak, has managed 34 goal contributions in 64 Bundesliga games, a promising return for a player of his age. While Newcastle have made more progress in negotiations, some sources claim that the player himself is leaning towards a move to Manchester United. However, the final decision will depend on Leipzig’s willingness to compromise and whether either English side can meet their financial and structural demands.
