In recent weeks, Bryan Mbeumo has emerged as Manchester United’s top attacking target, with the club keen to bring him in to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s forward options. The Brentford winger has had a standout 2024/25 season, scoring 20 goals in 38 Premier League appearances, making him one of the most effective forwards in the league.
Manchester United have already submitted a £60 million offer for the Cameroonian international, but Brentford turned it down, and negotiations are still ongoing. Despite interest from other Premier League rivals, particularly Tottenham Hotspur, Mbeumo has made it clear he wants to join Amorim’s side.
Alongside Mbeumo, United are actively looking at other options to bolster their front line. One of the notable names linked is Dušan Vlahović from Juventus. Discussions have started regarding a possible swap deal involving Jadon Sancho, who could move to the Italian side in exchange. Vlahović, known for his strength and finishing ability, could be a central figure in Amorim’s new-look attack.
Felix Nmecha of Borussia Dortmund is also under consideration, though a formal approach hasn’t been made yet. The midfielder offers creativity and energy from the middle of the park and could be targeted later in the transfer window.
Another major development involves United’s interest in AC Milan star Rafael Leão. The club is preparing another £60 million offer, although Milan reportedly value the Portuguese forward higher. Leão, who has tallied 12 goals and 11 assists across all competitions this season, has been compared to a peak Marcus Rashford due to his style of play—cutting in from the left, using his pace, and delivering clinical finishes. Interestingly, Leão has openly stated that Rashford has been a model for his development.
Rashford, meanwhile, appears to be on his way out. The England international was loaned to Aston Villa in January and seems unlikely to return to Amorim’s plans. A permanent move could be on the horizon, potentially freeing up the funds needed for Leão’s signing.
If United manage to land their top targets, Amorim could build a dynamic attacking trio with Mbeumo on the right, Leão on the left, and a central striker like Vlahović leading the line. It would be a big shift from recent seasons, injecting much-needed pace, versatility, and a sharper goal threat into United’s forward line.
