While competition for his signature will drive up the price, it may not be a move that fits United’s immediate strategy, especially when they already possess considerable depth in central defence. With names like Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven, and Noussair Mazraoui all capable of playing in that role, Amorim is not short of options.
Despite the clear quality Kim brings, signing him isn’t essential, and the cost involved, combined with the already crowded defensive department, makes this a transfer that may not make much sporting or financial sense. Unless there’s a major outgoing—such as Maguire—it’s unlikely United will seriously pursue the Bayern defender.
Meanwhile, on the attacking front, United are close to sealing a major signing. Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the club are currently conducting a medical for a new striker worth £100 million. This marquee signing is being structured through installments, allowing the club to manage their finances while keeping the door open for additional reinforcements. Amorim is reportedly pleased with this move, seeing it as a transformative addition to his forward line.
Although the identity of the striker hasn’t been made official, the shortlist strongly suggests it could be Joshua Zirkzee, Victor Osimhen, or Dusan Vlahović—all names heavily linked to the club. As the deal nears completion, it reflects United’s calculated and ambitious approach to this transfer window. Other targets remain in view, including Bryan Mbeumo, Douglas Luiz, João Neves, Manuel Ugarte, Desire Doue, Michael Olise, Miguel Gutierrez, and Milos Kerkez.
