Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping close tabs on Flamengo’s rising star, Lorran Lucas Pereira de Sousa, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, born in 2006, has emerged as one of Brazil’s most exciting young prospects, already attracting attention from several top Premier League clubs. Romano revealed that scouts from both United and Chelsea have been tracking the teenager’s performances, and his current contract with Flamengo includes a €50 million release clause.
Lorran has made significant strides since rising through Flamengo’s youth ranks, signing his first professional contract on his 16th birthday. He made his senior debut for the club in January and quickly made an impact by scoring in his second appearance against Bangu, becoming the youngest goalscorer in Flamengo’s history. Throughout the year, he has made four senior appearances and also featured for Brazil’s U17 team. His recent involvement includes being named on the bench in three of Flamengo’s last four games, including a crucial Copa Libertadores fixture against São Paulo.
The young midfielder is signed to Roc Nation Sports Brazil, the agency founded by Jay-Z, which also represents other high-profile Brazilian talents such as Vinicius Jr., Lucas Paquetá, Gabriel Martinelli, and Endrick. While he has not yet received widespread media attention, those who have seen him play speak highly of his potential. South American football platform Futbol Spy described him as a “superstar in the making,” and Real Madrid’s influential scout Juni Calafat—known for securing deals for top Brazilian players—has also taken interest.
Although Lorran cannot officially join a European club until he turns 18 next summer, the interest from elite sides is already intensifying. Chelsea, who have recently added Brazilian players like Andrey Santos and Deivid Washington to their squad, are reportedly keen to add Lorran to their talent pipeline. Manchester United, under the guidance of new sporting leadership, are also eager to secure promising talent early. Additionally, Manchester City, Brighton, and West Ham are said to be watching the player’s development closely.
Despite the growing list of admirers, Flamengo appear determined not to let Lorran go for anything less than his €50 million buyout clause, signaling their belief in his future value and the fierce competition expected for his signature.
