‘His ability on the ball is unbelievable and i think he will be a good Kelvin De Bruyne Replacement’ – have been linked with a move for 21 years old wonderkid who is better than Kelvin De Bruyne
Manchester City have been linked with a transfer for Everton midfielder Jarrad Branthwaite, who has already been compared to John Stones.
It was claimed yesterday that City is one among the clubs keeping an eye on the 21-year-old.
Branthwaite was on loan at PSV Eindhoven last season before returning to Goodison Park in the summer.
So far this season, he has made five Premier League appearances, all of which he has played 90 minutes.
City appear to like Branthwaite, which is fascinating considering he’s previously been compared to John Stones…
Jarrad Branthwaite might be Manchester City’s next John Stones.
Stones was acquired by City from Everton in a transaction worth £50 million.
Stones, who struggled at the Etihad at first, is now one of the club’s top players.
Due to injuries, he has been unable to play this season.
However, the 29-year-old is a world-class player who can play centre back, right back, and midfield.
And, in Branthwaite, Everton appears to be producing another player in the Stones mould.
According to the Liverpool Echo, he has the appearance of a City defender.
Branthwaite even commended Stones earlier this year.
“I watched him in the Champions League final, even though he plays midfield sometimes, his ability on the ball is unbelievable,” he commented after seeing his incredible performance against Inter. That’s what you want in a modern center-back.”
Branthwaite is one to keep an eye on.
Branthwaite is clearly a player to watch in the coming years.
Stones, who returned to City training this morning, has been a huge success for City.
And the club would almost certainly be open to signing someone comparable to him in the future.
According to The Athletic, Branthwaite “is comfortable stepping up into midfield to win the ball or covering out wide when necessary.” That may make him an excellent fit.
His ‘comfort in possession’ is another strong suit.
