Zinedine Zidane has been spotted at a club’s training session amid mounting scrutiny on Erik ten Hag’s managerial position at Manchester United.

Zinedine Zidane recently made headlines after being spotted at a club’s training session, stirring up rumors amid the increasing scrutiny on Erik ten Hag’s role as Manchester United’s manager. Despite the early phase of the season, Ten Hag is already under pressure following back-to-back Premier League defeats, including a significant 3-0 loss to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Last season, Ten Hag faced heavy speculation regarding his future with Manchester United, but instead of being shown the door, he secured a new contract with the club. Before this extension, several high-profile managers, such as Thomas Tuchel and Gareth Southgate, were speculated as potential successors, with Zidane also being a notable candidate, having only managed Real Madrid.

Zidane, who parted ways with Real Madrid in 2021 after leading the team to three consecutive Champions League victories between 2015 and 2018, was recently seen attending a Real Betis training session. His appearance coincided with his son Elyaz’s first training session with Betis’ first team. Elyaz, 18, had been with Real Madrid for 11 years before transitioning to Betis, which is currently led by former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Although Zidane’s name continues to surface in connection with Manchester United, the club’s chief executive, Omar Berrada, has publicly backed Ten Hag. Ahead of the weekend’s fixture, Berrada reiterated the club’s confidence in the Dutch coach, stating, “We are very satisfied with our decision to extend Erik’s contract. He has our unwavering support, and we will continue to collaborate closely with him to secure the best outcomes for the team.”
