Meanwhile, Arsenal F.C. fans would have been encouraged, knowing the dropped points could strengthen their push for the trophy.
City began with urgency and dominated possession, but Forest defended with discipline and limited clear chances. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 35th minute when Rayan Cherki burst into the box and delivered a clever cross that Antoine Semenyo smashed home with a powerful volley. The goal—Semenyo’s fifth league strike since his January move from AFC Bournemouth—gave City the lead and briefly lifted the mood at the Etihad Stadium.
However, Forest refused to back down. In the second half, Morgan Gibbs-White produced a moment of brilliance, scoring with a clever backheel finish that left goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma helpless.
