Manchester United are preparing for a major midfield overhaul ahead of next season, with as many as two new arrivals expected in the summer window.
Veteran Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, a regular starter under Michael Carrick, has already confirmed he will leave at the end of the campaign. Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte, brought in during 2024 as a long-term replacement, has struggled to justify his signing, and INEOS are reportedly willing to move on. Add to that Mason Mount’s persistent injury setbacks and the lingering doubts over Bruno Fernandes’ future, and it’s clear the club needs significant reinforcement in the engine room.
The hierarchy are believed to favour players already proven in England. Names such as Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton have been discussed, while Sandro Tonali is also admired. However, each would command a substantial fee, and competition for their signatures is fierce.
As a result, United have expanded their search beyond the Premier League. One standout option is Angelo Stiller of VfB Stuttgart. The 24-year-old has emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s most composed and creative midfield conductors. Data highlights his elite output in both chance creation and regaining possession high up the pitch, underlining his blend of technical quality and defensive awareness.
Recruitment chief Christopher Vivell and football director Jason Wilcox are said to be strong admirers. Reports indicate the club’s initial list of over ten midfield targets has now been trimmed to a core group, with a plan to recruit two players from it to form a new-look partnership.
Stiller’s talent is evident, but the real test would be whether he can handle the intensity and physical demands of the Premier League.
