Chelsea Fans Lose Patience With Underperforming Star
It was a thoroughly disappointing evening for Chelsea, who simply never got into their stride. Their attacking play lacked bite, despite fielding both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap together in the forward line.
The two strikers have had vastly different campaigns—the Brazilian has been pivotal in helping Chelsea reach the Champions League last 16, while the Englishman has netted just twice all season. Delap’s confidence appeared completely shattered during his 60 minutes on the pitch in north London.
Oddly positioned out wide on the right for much of the match, the former Manchester City academy graduate found himself completely stifled by Arsenal’s defensive unit. He struggled to connect play effectively and was dominated in aerial duels, unable to win flick-ons for the likes of Pedro or the overlapping Malo Gusto.
