INEOS FACE GROWING PRESSURE AND CARRICK’S FUTURE COMES UNDER FRESH SCRUTINY

Manchester United are facing growing pressure as questions emerge over whether Michael Carrick remains the right man to lead the club or whether INEOS should consider another managerial change.
Carrick earned the permanent position after an impressive spell helped United secure Champions League qualification. His strong finish last season restored optimism among supporters, earning him a contract until 2028. However, the current campaign has taken a disappointing turn.
United’s embarrassing 4–1 Champions League defeat to Como has intensified scrutiny of the manager, with the Red Devils now enduring seven consecutive matches without a victory in all competitions. Their defensive weaknesses, pressing and overall mentality have become major concerns.
Captain Bruno Fernandes reportedly questioned the team’s approach against Como, suggesting United needed to press more aggressively and make life difficult for their opponents. Carrick responded by stressing that tactics alone cannot deliver results without players showing sufficient effort, pressing forward and tracking back.
The disagreement has sparked debate among supporters over whether the manager’s tactics or the players’ performances are primarily responsible for the club’s struggles.
While some fans believe Carrick deserves more time to rebuild the team, others fear the situation could worsen if results fail to improve. Reports have also suggested that United are considering alternative managerial options, although Carrick’s future remains uncertain.
With crucial fixtures approaching, the pressure is mounting. United must rediscover consistency, restore confidence and demonstrate genuine improvement.
Should INEOS continue backing Carrick, appoint a new manager or hold the players accountable? Manchester United supporters remain divided over the decision that could shape the club’s future.
