His numbers speak for themselves. In his first season in Naples, McTominay delivered 12 goals and 4 assists across 34 Serie A appearances. Although his current campaign has been slightly quieter, with 2 goals and 1 assist in 10 games, he remains a vital component of Conte’s team.

Italian journalist Vincenzo Credendino explained the secret behind McTominay’s evolution: Conte reinvented him, shifting him away from a traditional playmaking role and using him as a late-arriving attacker — a role reminiscent of Arturo Vidal or Claudio Marchisio during their Juventus days. This tactical tweak unleashed his goal-scoring instinct and turned him into a constant threat in the final third.
