Rio Ferdinand reveals the ONE Man United player that let the whole team down last night – NOT ONANA

Rio Ferdinand has come to the defence of Manchester United’s under-fire goalkeeper André Onana after yet another difficult night for the Red Devils. While frustration among fans and pundits once again centred on the Cameroonian, the former United defender insisted the keeper was not the guilty party this time, pointing instead at another player he believes sabotaged the team’s performance.

“People need to stop putting everything on Onana,” Ferdinand snapped after the game. “Anyone who still blames him clearly doesn’t understand football. He gave everything last night, but there was one United player who ruined it for everyone else – that’s the plain truth.”

Ferdinand explained that this unnamed teammate not only offered nothing positive but actually dragged the side down with poor decision-making and zero intensity. He criticised the player’s body language and argued that every attempt to gain rhythm was destroyed by his actions. “Amorim should have hooked him before halftime – the signs were obvious,” Ferdinand added firmly.

For months, Onana has carried the weight of United’s struggles due to his high-profile errors, but Ferdinand made it clear that football cannot be reduced to blaming the goalkeeper. He emphasised that the real issue lies in accountability across the squad. “Onana can’t cover for everyone. You need leaders and fighters on that pitch. Last night, one man failed and it cost the whole team.”

Supporters have since taken to social media in heated debate, trying to guess which player Ferdinand was talking about. Many suspect a senior midfielder or forward who failed to step up, while others believe manager Ruben Amorim should take responsibility for not reacting sooner.

Regardless of who was at fault, Ferdinand’s passionate defence of Onana has sparked a shift in the conversation. The United icon has made it clear that Old Trafford’s crisis cannot simply be pinned on the goalkeeper.
