Rio Ferdinand Urges Man Utd to Sign Premier League Star Who Could Change Everything at Old Trafford

Rio Ferdinand has shifted his attention away from Manchester United’s attacking options, urging the club to prioritise signing a top-tier Premier League midfielder who he believes could completely change the team’s fortunes.
Although the Red Devils are currently on the lookout for a new striker, the former United defender insists that bringing in another forward won’t address the squad’s underlying problems. Instead, he argues that a commanding figure in midfield is exactly what the team needs — someone capable of dictating play, breaking up opposition attacks, and giving United’s younger attackers the freedom to focus on creating and scoring goals.
Ferdinand, who had previously described Benjamin Šeško as a “very good addition,” now believes there is an even more valuable signing to be made. While he avoided directly naming the player, reports strongly suggest he was hinting at Fulham’s João Palhinha, a midfielder admired for his defensive steel, leadership qualities, and control over the game’s tempo.
According to Ferdinand, Palhinha’s presence would not only strengthen United defensively but also elevate the performances of teammates like Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes. He also cautioned that hesitation in the transfer market could see United lose out to rival clubs, much like they did with Jude Bellingham — a mistake he believes they cannot afford to repeat.
