Manchester United’s £102million bid for Europe’s most wanted winger has been accepted, player has already agreed personal terms and medical will be done today.
Manchester United have submitted an improved offer for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, with the revised bid providing a more substantial guaranteed fee than their initial approach. This fresh proposal marks a major push by United to secure the 25-year-old forward as they look to strengthen their attacking options under new manager Rúben Amorim.
After sealing the £62.5 million signing of Matheus Cunha, who is expected to operate in one of the attacking midfield roles in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 setup, United are now focusing on pairing him with Mbeumo in the other advanced playmaker position. The Red Devils initially tabled an offer of £55 million—comprising £45 million upfront and £10 million in add-ons—but that bid was turned down.
Despite competition from Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham—each of whom can offer Champions League football—Mbeumo has made it clear that his preferred destination is Old Trafford. Interest from Spurs briefly intensified after Thomas Frank, Mbeumo’s former manager at Brentford, was appointed to lead the north London club. However, that potential hijack has cooled, leaving United in a strong position.
Over the weekend, United responded with a second bid exceeding £60 million, with a larger share of the sum paid upfront. This aligns more closely with Brentford’s expectations, as they are using the Cunha deal as a benchmark. According to reports, the new offer significantly improves United’s chances of completing the transfer.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Mbeumo remains a top target for Manchester United and reiterated that the player is prioritizing a move to Old Trafford over other interested clubs. Romano revealed that negotiations with Brentford are still ongoing, but the proposal is active and serious.
Mbeumo enjoyed an outstanding campaign last season, netting a personal-best 20 goals in the Premier League—a tally bettered only by Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland, and Alexander Isak. His proven track record in the English top flight and compatibility with Amorim’s tactical system make him an ideal fit for United’s attacking setup.
Reports also indicate that personal terms between Mbeumo and United have been agreed upon verbally, smoothing the path for a potential transfer. With pre-season preparations set to begin on July 7, United are aiming to finalize the deal as soon as possible, focusing now on the finer details such as add-ons and payment structure.
