Breaking News: Manchester United Step Up Chase for Ardon Jashari Despite AC Milan’s £25.6m Offer
Manchester United have opened communication with the representatives of Club Brugge midfielder Ardon Jashari, even as AC Milan push forward with a formal bid of £25.6 million for the 22-year-old Swiss talent. Fulham and West Ham have both expressed strong interest in Jashari this summer but have seen their approaches turned away. While Manchester City were once eyeing the midfielder, they eventually shifted focus and opted to sign Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan instead.
Jashari began his football journey with FC Luzern in Switzerland, where he joined the youth academy at just 11 years old. He made his senior debut at 18 and went on to register more than 100 appearances, tallying nine goals and 11 assists. In 2024, he secured a move to Club Brugge for a record €6 million fee and made an immediate impact. In his first season, Brugge won the domestic cup, secured second place in the league, and advanced to the Champions League round of 16. His outstanding performances earned him the Belgian Pro League Player of the Year award for the 2024/25 season.
On the international front, Jashari debuted for Switzerland at age 20 and has since earned four caps. His rapid rise has caught the attention of numerous top clubs across Europe. Despite AC Milan submitting a substantial offer, Club Brugge are reportedly holding out for closer to €40 million (£34.1 million), and United have yet to table an official bid.
Reports suggest that United’s interest is part of manager Ruben Amorim’s strategy to strengthen the midfield, particularly with Christian Eriksen expected to leave the club on a free transfer. The lack of Champions League football at Old Trafford, however, could present a major hurdle, as Jashari is believed to prioritise playing in Europe’s elite competition. This same issue led him to reject offers from Fulham and West Ham, and it remains a factor for both United and Milan, who also failed to qualify for the Champions League this season.
Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, and PSG have all monitored Jashari at various points in his career, though none have moved forward with a formal pursuit. Dortmund instead signed Jobe Bellingham, while PSG have yet to act on their interest.
As the transfer window progresses, United’s chances of signing Jashari may depend on their willingness to meet Brugge’s valuation and how convincingly they can present a compelling long-term vision to the player. Despite not offering Champions League football, the Red Devils still believe they can win the race for one of Europe’s most promising midfielders.
