Manchester United has officially confirmed the signing of 23-year-old super talented player
Manchester United are reportedly maintaining consistent contact with Aston Villa’s goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as they attempt to seal a summer transfer. The club is eager to strengthen the squad under new boss Ruben Amorim, following a disappointing campaign that saw them finish 15th in the Premier League and miss out on European competition after falling short in the Europa League final.
One key position on their radar is the goalkeeper role, and Martinez has become a top priority. The Argentine, who played a crucial role in Argentina’s World Cup victory, is believed to be open to the move. With Villa missing out on Champions League football for the 2025/26 season and under pressure to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, they may be forced to offload high-value players—and Martinez, who earns £150,000 per week, is one of their most valuable assets.
Sources say United’s management team has been “calling every day” to persuade Martinez to make the switch to Old Trafford. Although reports suggest he has already given his approval to the idea of joining Amorim’s project, United are not rushing things, especially after previous setbacks in the transfer market, including missing out on Liam Delap and losing striker target Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal.
However, Manchester United cannot proceed with signing Martinez until they offload current first-choice keeper Andre Onana. The club is working behind the scenes to secure a buyer for Onana before making an official move for the Villa shot-stopper. Meanwhile, Martinez recently teamed up with influential agent Jorge Mendes, a move interpreted as a strong indication that a transfer is imminent.
While a deal is not yet completed, Manchester United remain hopeful and are pulling out all the stops to finalize Martinez’s arrival. Negotiations are ongoing, and the outcome now hinges largely on Onana’s departure and Villa’s final valuation, believed to be in the £35–40 million range.
