Whitwell highlighted four main reasons why Mbeumo is drawn to Manchester United: the tactical fit under manager Rúben Amorim, the global profile of the club, the opportunity to raise his personal brand, and the allure of playing at Old Trafford under pressure and scrutiny. Despite United missing out on European football, the forward appears captivated by the club’s size and ambition.
Transfer expert Fraser Fletcher reinforced this view, noting Mbeumo’s motivation to be part of United’s rebuild and help restore the club’s status. Although Tottenham have offered a competitive wage of £130,000 per week, United are ready to go significantly higher — potentially up to £200,000 weekly — though still short of the £250,000 the player initially desired. The financial edge clearly places United ahead in the race.
As things stand, Tottenham’s chances of hijacking the move seem slim. Meanwhile, United are at risk of losing out on Viktor Gyökeres after Sporting CP failed to keep a key promise, and the player received a direct approach from another big club.
