Real Madrid Superstar Antonio Rüdiger is set to be BANNED after what he did against Barcelona
Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has been handed a six-match suspension by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for his red card incident in the Copa del Rey final, where he threw an object at the referee. According to Article 101 of the RFEF disciplinary code, Rudiger’s actions constituted “mild violence” towards the referee, warranting a suspension of between four and 12 matches.
Rudiger’s suspension will be served in La Liga matches, with five games remaining in the current season and the first game of the 2025-26 season. However, the ban is unlikely to have a significant impact on Rudiger, as he is expected to be out for several weeks recovering from knee surgery.
The German international underwent surgery on Tuesday and is estimated to be sidelined for six to eight weeks, which would rule him out for the remainder of the domestic season and potentially the Club World Cup. Rudiger had previously apologized for his actions, stating that there was “definitely no excuse” for his behavior.
Real Madrid’s apology was used as mitigation in an attempt to reduce Rudiger’s ban. Meanwhile, teammate Lucas Vazquez has been suspended for two Copa del Rey fixtures. The club has also announced that left-back Ferland Mendy has suffered a hamstring injury, and central defender David Alaba has ruptured the meniscus in his left knee.
