Manchester United’s hopes of signing Victor Osimhen have been given a lift as Juventus are reportedly no longer in the running. Earlier in the week, Italian media suggested that United had struck a deal with Napoli to trigger Osimhen’s release clause this summer. Tuttosport reported that the Red Devils are willing to offer £64 million along with Rasmus Hojlund as part of the package for the Nigerian striker.
The same outlet revealed that Juventus, who had initially made Osimhen a top target, have now redirected their attention after United stepped up talks with the player. The Turin side are now focusing on Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui, valued at around €50 million (£42 million), while Ademola Lookman has also been mentioned as a possible option.
Despite the positive signs, there is still no guarantee that Osimhen will end up at Old Trafford. Elsewhere, Liam Delap has been identified as a potential signing for United’s soon-to-be-appointed manager Ruben Amorim, with the youngster available for £30 million following Ipswich’s relegation. Wolves forward Matheus Cunha also remains heavily linked with a move to Manchester, but United would need to trigger his £62.5 million release clause to make it happen.
