Fabrizio Romano confirms that Manchester United have agreed to sign Victor Osimhen on an undisclosed fee in an exchange of Rasmus Højlund joining them in loan
Victor Osimhen has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Manchester United as the club eyes a major summer move for the prolific Nigerian forward. The news comes from Turkish journalist Serdar Çelikler, who stated on a podcast that while the striker is aligned on a personal deal, formal negotiations between United and Napoli are still underway.
Currently on loan at Galatasaray, Osimhen has enjoyed a stellar season, netting 29 goals and assisting six more in 34 appearances across all competitions. His outstanding performances have captured the attention of the Red Devils, who are actively seeking a high-profile striker to strengthen their front line, especially with Rasmus Hojlund struggling to make an impact, managing only three goals in the Premier League this season. New manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly open to parting ways with Hojlund and sees Osimhen as the ideal upgrade.
Despite Osimhen’s agreement with United, Napoli have not yet settled on a transfer fee. The 25-year-old has a release clause set at €75 million (£63 million), but sources suggest the Italian side might be willing to negotiate a lower price. Meanwhile, Juventus are also interested in the striker, but Napoli are believed to be unwilling to sell him to a Serie A rival, potentially giving Manchester United the upper hand.
Osimhen’s preference to play Champions League football next season could play a critical role in his decision. Manchester United’s ability to secure a spot in the elite competition may ultimately determine whether the move goes through. Should the deal fall apart, the club is reportedly considering backup options such as Liam Delap and Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Turkish journalist Ali Naci Küçük added that United have tabled a massive contract offer of £660,000 per week before tax, which would make Osimhen the highest-paid player at Old Trafford. According to Küçük, both Juventus and Manchester United have made competitive offers worth €20 million annually, but Galatasaray are unlikely to match Osimhen’s wage demands, believed to be around €15 million per year.
Galatasaray’s vice-president Ibrahim Hatipoglu remains hopeful of keeping Osimhen, noting that the striker holds the club close to his heart, though he hasn’t confirmed whether he’ll stay or leave. Osimhen himself has remained noncommittal about his future, saying he’s enjoying life at the moment and isn’t focused on the speculation.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan this season, with the Turkish club paying €6 million of his total annual salary while Napoli covers the rest. His next destination is yet to be confirmed, but with multiple clubs vying for his signature and Manchester United’s aggressive push, the transfer saga is heating up rapidly.
