Amorim wants his defenders to break opposition lines with their passing, a task Lisandro Martinez executed well before his injury. Yoro has since stepped up impressively, registering a 90% passing accuracy in each of his last three league matches.
Yoro explained the tactical shift himself, saying that the three defenders are expected to control the game and help move the ball forward for attackers. His stats back up his growth—against Manchester City, he completed 21 forward passes with a 90% success rate. He followed that with a 93% passing accuracy and 100% completion of long balls against Nottingham Forest, and a 95% passing accuracy along with perfect dribbling stats against Ipswich Town. These numbers are especially impressive considering he’s operating on the left side of defense, which isn’t his natural position.
The French youngster admitted it took some time to adjust to life at Manchester United, and injuries also disrupted his momentum early on. However, his growing fitness and confidence are now beginning to show, and he’s becoming a reliable figure in Amorim’s backline. Yoro acknowledged that things are improving with every game and emphasized his desire to help the team reach their full potential.
