Jadon Sancho brutally torn apart by Jamie Carragher as Chelsea star slumps into old habits

Jadon Sancho and Marc Cucurella faced harsh criticism after Chelsea’s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Brighton, with Jamie Carragher singling them out for their poor defending during the third goal. The loss was another setback for the Blues, who had already been knocked out of the FA Cup by Brighton a week earlier.

Sancho, on loan from Manchester United, started on the bench after a disappointing previous outing. However, he was brought on early due to Noni Madueke’s injury but failed to make an impact, delivering another underwhelming performance. Kaoru Mitoma opened the scoring with a brilliant strike in the 27th minute before Yankuba Minteh, assisted by Danny Welbeck, scored twice to seal Brighton’s dominant win.

Carragher, commenting on Sky Sports, was scathing about Chelsea’s defense, particularly Sancho’s poor positioning and Cucurella’s weak challenges. He criticized their lack of intensity, stating it was no surprise Brighton capitalized on their defensive lapses.

Chelsea’s struggles continue, with only two wins in their last nine league matches, putting their top-four hopes in serious doubt. With a tough fixture against Aston Villa on the horizon, their season appears to be unraveling. Sancho’s ongoing difficulties mirror the issues he faced at Manchester United—brief moments of skill overshadowed by a lack of defensive effort. His future at Chelsea looks uncertain unless his performances improve drastically.
