A recent analysis indicates that Manchester United has unexpectedly surged ahead in the race to sign Victor Osimhen, the talented striker from Napoli. Osimhen’s departure from Napoli is expected due to a rumored release clause valued at €130 million, allowing potential suitors to secure his services without prolonged negotiations.

Previously, Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG were prominent contenders for Osimhen’s signature. PSG eyed him as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, amidst rumors of Mbappe’s potential move to Real Madrid. Chelsea and Arsenal sought to bolster their attacking options with Osimhen, with Chelsea initially appearing favored due to Osimhen’s reported admiration for Didier Drogba. However, Chelsea’s pursuit has faltered, partly due to uncertainty surrounding the potential signing of Napoli teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

There were also speculations about Ratcliffe’s interest in Osimhen as a marquee signing for Chelsea, contingent upon Champions League qualification. However, Chelsea’s recent setbacks have raised doubts about their Champions League prospects and consequently their pursuit of Osimhen.

What’s intriguing is that the latest report doesn’t mention Champions League qualification as a prerequisite for Osimhen’s transfer, signaling a shift in the dynamics of the situation. The emergence of Manchester United as a frontrunner for Osimhen’s signature is surprising, especially given their simultaneous pursuit of Michael Olise, whose acquisition would also require a substantial transfer fee. Securing both players would entail a significant investment of approximately €200 million for Manchester United.
