Man United have been offered the chance to sign Osimhen in January, but Napoli want a pick of three players in return…

Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli in a player-exchange deal. The 25-year-old Nigerian striker, currently showcasing his skills on loan at Galatasaray, has long expressed a desire to play in the Premier League. His performances in Turkey, where he has scored nine goals and provided three assists in 11 league appearances, have caught the attention of several top clubs.

In the summer of 2024, Osimhen was linked with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, but Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, insisted on a full release clause payment, which discouraged potential buyers. Chelsea reportedly considered both loan and permanent deals but backed out due to their strict wage structure, leaving Osimhen to join Galatasaray. Despite his success in Turkey, there is a widespread belief that his talent belongs in one of Europe’s top leagues.

Recent reports suggest Manchester United have been presented with the opportunity to sign Osimhen in January. The club is evaluating its options, and if the transfer goes through, Osimhen would compete with Marcus Rashford, Joshua Zirkzee, and Rasmus Højlund for a spot in Ruben Amorim’s starting lineup. This isn’t the first time United have shown interest; in 2020, the striker turned down a move to Old Trafford out of respect for his compatriot Odion Ighalo, who was on loan at the club.

Osimhen’s contract with Napoli runs until June 2025, meaning the upcoming transfer window offers the Italian club a chance to secure a transfer fee before risking losing him for free. Reports indicate a cash-only deal may not suffice, as Napoli is also interested in acquiring Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Højlund, or Joshua Zirkzee from United. Both Højlund and Zirkzee have Serie A experience, having played for Atalanta and Bologna, respectively, making them appealing options for the Italian side.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, negotiations between the two clubs are expected to intensify. Securing Osimhen would strengthen Manchester United’s attack and fulfill the striker’s ambition to play in England’s top flight. However, any agreement will likely involve complex discussions, especially if a player-exchange deal is part of the arrangement. If successful, the transfer could be a significant boost for both the player and the club.
