Manchester United are reportedly considering sending Alejandro Garnacho out on loan, with the deal potentially including a £60 million buy option. The young Argentine winger, who alongside Marcus Rashford was notably absent from the squad during the Manchester derby on December 15, has found himself under scrutiny. Manager Ruben Amorim attributed their exclusion to concerns over “standards and application.”
Garnacho has since made brief appearances, coming off the bench in United’s last two games. However, reports from Caught Offside suggest his future at Old Trafford remains uncertain. An unnamed European club has reportedly made Garnacho a top transfer priority, with interest also coming from major sides like Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Juventus. The unnamed suitor is said to be ready to propose a loan move in January, accompanied by an optional buy clause worth £60 million.
Amorim has been granted the freedom to reshape the squad, and Garnacho’s departure could provide the funds needed for significant changes. A six-month loan deal could serve as the prelude to a permanent exit, but the decision would ultimately rest with the club pursuing him.
The uncertainty extends beyond Garnacho, as Marcus Rashford is also facing questions about his future. Rashford, who has been omitted from three consecutive matchday squads, may be allowed to leave, though a transfer is more likely in the summer than in January. Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen, both nearing the end of their contracts, could be available in the upcoming transfer window, and backup goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is reportedly exploring his options due to limited playing time. On the other hand, Harry Maguire appears to have secured his place in the squad, with discussions about a contract extension reportedly progressing well.
Amorim has commented on Rashford’s situation, hinting that the forward might be influenced by questionable advice from his circle. Following Rashford’s recent remarks about seeking a new challenge, Amorim stressed his focus on enhancing the player’s on-field performance, leaving transfer matters for the club to address at the appropriate time.
