Victor Osimhen transfer saga takes dramatic twist as new club enters race to sign him as early as January
A new contender has reportedly emerged in the race to secure Victor Osimhen’s signature from Napoli, according to recent reports. The Nigerian striker, currently on loan at Galatasaray, is set to return to his parent club at the end of the season. Over the summer, Osimhen was linked with potential moves to Chelsea and the Saudi Pro League, but those transfers failed to materialize. Instead, he joined Turkish champions Galatasaray on a last-minute loan deal in September. Since then, he has been in impressive form, netting 10 goals in 13 appearances across all competitions. With Galatasaray sitting atop the league standings, Osimhen’s contributions, including a crucial brace in their 3-2 Europa League victory over Tottenham last month, have been pivotal.
However, Italian publication Il Mattino now claims a surprise club has entered the fray, potentially leading to an early end to his loan spell. Manchester United are reportedly ready to activate Osimhen’s €70 million release clause as early as January, paving the way for a move to Old Trafford. Despite this speculation, Osimhen is not expecting to be recalled by Napoli mid-season, with the club’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, confirming there have been no discussions about an early return.
Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim appears determined to strengthen his attacking options, even with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee already available. United are struggling in the Premier League, sitting 13th after a 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest. Since Amorim’s arrival from Sporting Lisbon, the team has secured just one win in four league matches as the new manager seeks to implement significant tactical adjustments.
