Ruben Amorim has made giving a SHOCKING Manchester United player a new contract a ‘priority’, according to reports.
Rúben Amorim, the 39-year-old manager of Manchester United, has reportedly prioritized securing a contract extension for one of the club’s brightest young talents. In his first Premier League outing as United’s manager, Amorim orchestrated a commanding 4-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford. While Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee dominated the scoresheet with two goals apiece, it was the electrifying display by 22-year-old winger Amad that truly impressed the new boss.
Amad played a pivotal role in the victory, contributing two assists. One of his standout moments came when he dispossessed Jarrad Branthwaite, creating the opportunity for Bruno Fernandes to assist Zirkzee’s opening goal. After the match, Amorim heaped praise on the Ivorian winger, commending both his skill and determination, while also crediting former coach Ruud van Nistelrooy for aiding Amad’s development.
“Amad has immense talent, though he’s not the biggest in stature,” Amorim noted. “He worked hard today, but there’s room for improvement. Ruud did a fantastic job helping him grow, and I’m now reaping the benefits of that work. He was superb on both ends of the pitch, but we’ll need to carefully manage his fitness to build his physical endurance.”
Since Amorim’s arrival, Amad has started two Premier League matches, against Ipswich and Everton, and made an appearance off the bench in a Europa League clash with Bodo/Glimt. Having joined United in January 2021, the winger spent loan spells at Rangers and Sunderland before becoming an integral part of the first team.
Amad’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season, though Manchester United reportedly hold an option to extend it by an additional year. According to The Telegraph, the club is expected to open talks regarding his future soon, as any delay could allow him to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs starting in 2025. While no formal discussions have been announced, fans are eager for the club to secure a long-term deal for the rising star, especially if his stellar form persists.
