Rúben Amorim reveals Manchester United has a youngster who might be a big challenge for Lamine Yamal and other top youngsters after what he did at the training ground

Danish sensation Chido Obi-Martin has achieved a significant milestone in his budding career by signing his first professional contract with Manchester United this week.

Obi-Martin, who joined United from Arsenal in October, has already made a strong impression with the club’s Under-18 team. The young striker has scored four goals in four matches, including an eye-catching hat-trick against Nottingham Forest. His performances reaffirm the reputation he built at Arsenal, where he recorded a staggering 32 goals and three assists in just 21 games for their Under-18 side.

Despite Arsenal’s efforts to keep him, Obi-Martin opted for a new challenge at United. Since moving to the Carrington training base, he has quickly earned a professional contract, making him eligible for senior team action. With first-team forwards Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund yet to find consistent form, Obi-Martin could have a chance to position himself as a key figure in Ruben Amorim’s long-term plans.

The Under-18 squad at United has been dominant this season, sitting atop the league table with a perfect record of nine wins in nine games. They have scored an impressive 43 goals while conceding just four, showcasing their quality. Following a 3-0 win against Everton, the team prepares to face Stoke City, with Obi-Martin expected to be a focal point as he aims to continue his scoring streak.

Meanwhile, Højlund has begun to find his rhythm after netting twice against Bodø/Glimt, adding competition for the striker position. There is also speculation about United pursuing Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyökeres, a player well-known to Amorim.

However, Obi-Martin’s exceptional form at youth level makes him hard to overlook. A strong showing against Stoke City could bring him closer to a senior debut. As he strives to climb the ranks at United, his journey is one to watch, with the young starlet showing all the signs of becoming a future standout for the club.
