GOOD NEWS FOR MANCHESTER UNITED FANS as Paul Pgba plans to return to Manchester United and train, just like Jonny Evans did as he plans to impress Rúben Amorim and help the team win trophies.
Bacary Sagna has hinted at the possibility of Paul Pogba making a remarkable return to Manchester United for a third spell, especially under the guidance of current manager Ruben Amorim.
The 31-year-old French World Cup winner is presently without a club after mutually terminating his contract with Juventus earlier this month. Pogba’s second tenure at the Serie A club was marked by challenges, with only 12 appearances before a doping scandal interrupted his career.
In September 2023, Pogba was handed a four-year suspension after testing positive for a banned substance. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) later reduced the ban to 18 months, citing that the substance was ingested accidentally. This decision means Pogba can return to training in January 2024 and compete professionally by March.
Despite his setbacks, Pogba’s extraordinary skillset remains evident, and a return to Old Trafford could be a possibility, according to his former France teammate, Sagna. The ex-Arsenal and Manchester City player believes Pogba would flourish under Amorim’s forward-thinking leadership.
In an interview with Mega Dice, Sagna expressed confidence in Pogba’s potential comeback:
“Things are different at Manchester United now compared to when Paul was there before. With a young and dynamic coach like Amorim, who understands the game from a player’s viewpoint, Paul could thrive. From knowing Paul personally, I can say he has a deep affection for United.”
Sagna also reflected on Pogba’s earlier stint at United, attributing some of the struggles to the club’s turbulent period during that time:
“I’ve spoken to Paul often, and his passion for United is genuine. The difficulties he faced weren’t entirely his fault—the club itself was going through a challenging phase, making it hard for many players to shine.”
Manchester United’s midfield has faced significant pressure this season due to injuries to key players Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte. Their 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town underscored the issue, as both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were forced off the pitch during the match.
If Pogba becomes available in March, he could be an invaluable addition to United’s midfield. While Amorim’s plans for the Frenchman remain unclear, Sagna’s remarks suggest that a reunion with the Red Devils might not be out of the question.
