FABRIZIO ROMANO ANNOUNCE that Man Utd ‘make contact’ with PSG for first January signing as Ruben Amorim stamps his mark with world class signing.

Manchester United have reportedly begun direct negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) over a potential loan deal for forward Randal Kolo Muani during the January transfer window. The French striker, who became one of PSG’s most expensive acquisitions, has struggled to make a significant impact since his arrival.

Under the guidance of new manager Ruben Amorim, Manchester United plan to adopt a more restrained transfer policy, marking a shift from the lavish spending that characterized Erik ten Hag’s tenure. Over two-and-a-half years, United invested over £600 million in player signings. Initial reports suggested the club would remain relatively inactive in January unless a remarkable opportunity presented itself. It now appears such an opportunity may have emerged.

The Red Devils are believed to have contacted PSG about securing Kolo Muani on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. The 25-year-old joined the French champions from Eintracht Frankfurt in September 2023 for a fee of £64.2 million, with potential add-ons of £12.2 million. Despite the hefty price tag, the French international has struggled under PSG manager Luis Enrique, scoring only two goals in 12 Ligue 1 matches.

According to French outlet Le10sport and journalist Alexis Bernard, Manchester United have proposed a loan arrangement for Kolo Muani, as the club faces financial limitations that make a permanent transfer unviable. The decision now rests with the player, who must decide whether to remain at PSG and fight for his place or seek a fresh start under Amorim at Old Trafford.

Kolo Muani recently addressed the speculation surrounding his future during an interview with Telefoot. The forward dismissed the idea of leaving PSG, stating, “I’ve never considered leaving. It’s all about keeping the right mindset. I need to keep working hard to earn the coach’s trust. That’s been my journey—nothing has come easy for me. You can’t afford to relax; if you do, it’s over.”

As the January transfer window nears, discussions between Manchester United, PSG, and Kolo Muani are expected to continue. Amorim is reportedly keen to bolster his attacking options and views the Frenchman as a player with untapped potential. For Kolo Muani, a move to Manchester could provide a chance to rediscover the form that once made him one of Europe’s most exciting forwards. However, convincing him to leave PSG mid-season may prove to be a significant hurdle for the English club.
