Man City has been identified as one of the Brazilian international’s suitors in recent months.
As previously reported, Liverpool and Arsenal are also monitoring Rodrygo’s position, so the talk around him has certainly piqued the interest of multiple teams.
According to Fichajes, Manchester City are preparing to pay €150 million (£126.2 million / $163.2 million) for Rodrygo, making him the most expensive acquisition in Premier League history if successful.
According to the source, Rodrygo has emerged as one of Pep Guardiola’s top objectives in light of the uncertainty surrounding Erling Haaland, who is wanted by Real Madrid and other clubs.
Rodrygo, 23, can play as a winger on either flank or as a centre striker, and has 57 goals and 43 assists in 229 games for Madrid.
However, discussions ‘will not be simple’ for Manchester City since Madrid see Rodrygo as an important player for the present and future and may not consider selling him at any price.

Rodrygo had previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, but he is under contract at the Bernabeu until 2028 and has expressed no desire to leave.
“I still have a contract,” Rodrygo stated throughout the summer. “When I say it is been a pleasure to be here all these years, I am not saying it because I am departing, but because it has been enjoyable for me.
“It is still a dream; I have a contract, and I am confident I will remain.”
