Former Manchester United player Garth Crooks has identified Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma as a perfect fit for the Red Devils.
The Japanese winger has been in remarkable form since last season, which places him in stark contrast to Manchester United’s current options on the flanks. Mitoma’s performances have reportedly drawn interest from several top clubs.
In an analysis for BBC Sport, Crooks, who once played for United on loan, believes that Mitoma would effortlessly fit into Erik ten Hag’s side.
He stated, “Jadon Sancho and Antony are currently with Manchester United, but neither has shown the level of talent and finesse that Mitoma displays. Playing at Old Trafford brings greater pressure, but Mitoma has the attributes of a player built for this stage.”
Brighton, known for its effective scouting, signed Mitoma from Japanese club Kawasaki Frontale in 2021. After spending a season on loan in Belgium, the 26-year-old solidified his reputation in the Premier League during the 2022/23 campaign, netting 10 goals and delivering eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions for Brighton.
Mitoma has carried that momentum into the current season, recently scoring a brilliant solo goal in Brighton’s 4-1 triumph over Wolves.
