Premier League side Manchester United is Set to Sign Barcelona Star Frenkie de Jong in a £80million move next summer.
If Barcelona and Frenkie de Jong fail to reach a new contract agreement, the Spanish club may soon contemplate selling the Dutch midfielder. Manchester United has had its eye on De Jong for a while, but no deal has come through yet.

In a similar scenario, Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, also on Manchester United’s radar, has yet to reach an agreement on a contract renewal. His current deal, like De Jong’s, runs until 2026, leaving his future with the club up in the air.
Barcelona may face difficult decisions soon if they are unable to extend the contracts of key players like De Jong and Araujo. The club’s priority, however, is securing the futures of young talents Pedri and Gavi, who are seen as vital to Barcelona’s long-term plans. Both players are reportedly committed to staying with the team, and if De Jong doesn’t renew, there’s speculation that Pedri and Gavi could take on greater roles within the squad, potentially diminishing De Jong’s influence.
According to the report, De Jong has attracted attention from several top clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain. Throughout the summer, there was constant speculation linking him with a reunion with Erik ten Hag, his former coach at Ajax, now managing Manchester United.
Despite these rumors, De Jong has consistently emphasized his contentment in Barcelona. When questioned about his future, he confidently expressed, “Without a doubt, I’m very happy here with my family.”
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has also addressed the matter, admitting that losing De Jong would be a significant setback. Laporta remarked, “Leaving Barcelona would be the last thing he’d want. He’s told me numerous times how happy he is here. We’re thrilled to have him, but we can’t stop a player from leaving if that’s their decision.”
