Thomas Tuchel has already shared his ‘masterplan’ for if he becomes Manchester United manager in a secret meeting with club officials, according to a report.
A recent report reveals that Thomas Tuchel has already laid out his “masterplan” for assuming the role of Manchester United’s manager during a private discussion with club officials. According to the Manchester Evening News, Tuchel is being evaluated as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag, who is under mounting scrutiny due to lackluster performances, particularly following the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham at Old Trafford.
While there was a slight defensive improvement in the recent 0-0 stalemate against Aston Villa, the situation remains concerning, with United currently languishing in 14th place in the Premier League and having accumulated only eight points from their first seven matches. This marks the club’s poorest start to a top-flight season since 1990, prompting discussions about potential changes within the organization. The report states that United officials met with Tuchel in Monaco after his departure from Bayern Munich, where he shared his vision with minority co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, emphasizing how he could enhance Mason Mount’s role at the club.
Previously, Tuchel turned down the chance to manage United due to differences over the club’s transfer policy and structure. It remains unclear if his stance has changed; however, his current status as a free agent—having been without a job since leaving Bayern Munich—could sway United’s interest.
Other candidates in the mix include Gareth Southgate and Ruud van Nistelrooy, but according to David Ornstein, Southgate, the former England manager, was not seriously considered during the summer and is unlikely to be a frontrunner now.
